(Dec. 7) A delegation of six led by Mr. Kee Mustafa (chairman of board of directors) and Mr. D Kamarudin D Mudin (vice-chancellor) from University of Malaysia, Sabah (UMS) visits CSUST to further strengthen the bond between the two partners and discuss what’s next for the progress of the recently established Confucius Institute at UMS, an engineering-centered comprehensive talent training base at Malaysia. Up to now, CSUST has three Confucius Institutes with two others at Liberia and Montenegro.

Mr Cao Yijia, the president, accompanied by department heads from several university faculties welcomed the guests. He was pleased by the new Confucius Institute at UMS, an epoch-making outcome of the mutual partnership, echoing the call of China’s Belt and Road Initiative. Mr. Cao noted that the Confucius Institute at UMS should seek its own development path to satisfy the talent requirements from higher institutions along Belt and Road countries; he also advocated more collaborations and communications in engineering and food science.

Mr. Kee said young as UMS may be, it has developed rapidly since its foundation in 1994 thanks to cooperation with Chinese partners and particularly the Belt and Road initiative. The UMS delegation is confident that with Confucius Institute as the new platform, deeper cooperation and international exchange in all fields will be up to a higher level.
