Felix Wu is Professor Emeritus at the University of California, Berkeley (UCB) and the University of Hong Kong (HKU). He joined the faculty in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at UCB in 1974, where he was promoted to Full Professor in 1982, and served at HKU as Pro Vice Chancellor (Vice President, 1997-2000), Philip Wong Wilson Wong Professor of Electrical Engineering (2001-11) and Distinguished Visiting Professor in Clean Energy and Environment (2011-14). He is a Fellow of IEEE for “contributions to the development of theory and computation methods for power system planning and operation”.
He was the TEPCO Chair of “Frontier Technology for the Future Electric Energy System” in 1991 and held visiting professorship at Swiss Institute of Technology (ETH-Zurich), University of Tokyo, University of Cassino (Italy), Tsinghua University and many other universities. He served as a consultant to a number of industry and government agencies including Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Electric Power Research Institute (USA), Chinese Electric Power Research Institute, ABB-Systems Control, Starcraft Norway, Iberdrola Spain, Executive Council of Abu Dhabi, Asian Development Bank, etc. He served on the Smart Grid Advisory Panel of CLP Power (2011-14) and the Committee of Experts of China Southern Grid (2011-17). Professor Wu also served as a Board Member of Shantou University (2000-03), Trustee of Croucher Foundation (2003-10), and Advisor to the President of Tianjin University (2015-18).
Professor Wu received his BS degree from National Taiwan University, MSc degree from University of Pittsburgh and PhD degree from University of California, Berkeley.
